Trump Sentenced – No Jail Time, No Fine
January 10, 2025 (Washington, DC)—The next (and former) president of the United States was sentenced and released “with no restrictions” for committing 34 felonies. He was unanimously convicted on all counts by a jury of his peers (ordinary American citizens) on May 31, 2024.
Breakdown of the 34 felonies Trump was convicted of
11 counts for invoices for legal services
11 counts for checks paid for legal services
12 counts for ledger entries for legal expenses
All of these felonies were committed between January and December of 2017. They involved payments to Michael Cohen, whose job it was to make sure that adult film star Stormy Daniels would keep quiet about the liaison with Candidate Trump prior to the 2016 Election. (NPR – May 30, 2024)
Because he is the President-Elect and will soon be sworn in as this country’s next president, his only punishment is being convicted of 34 felonies. He will not go to prison, lose his passport or driving license, or be subjected to any other indignity other felons face. He will not pay any fine, although he could have been fined $5000 for each felony ($170,000 total)—a drop in the bucket as far as he is concerned.
The bottom line appears to be that there are indeed two tiers in the American justice system: one for the rich and connected and one for the rest of us.
